Maritime Professionals protecting their "Home"

SEA GUARDIANS is a new program for healthy seas focusing on two axes:

  • the collection of data on endangered marine species and pollution hot spots on surface waters and
  • awareness-raising and education of professionals whose activities impact the marine environment via targeted educational actions (series of online seminars and workshops as well as an interactive two-day training for fishers)

Who are the Sea Guardians

  • Fishers and entities related to fishing activity
  • Skippers, crew members and other boat users
  • Institutional bodies' representatives - Coast Guard Officers etc.
  • Any citizen interested in enriching their knowledge on the marine environment and actively contributing to its protection

Recreational Boating and the Marine Environment

What are the effects of recreational boats on the marine environment? We explore best practices and compliance to regulations for environmentally responsible recreational boating.

 

The webinars are available for free and will be implemented by experts of HELMEPA (Hellenic Marine Environments Protection Association), N.E.C.C.A. (Natural Environment and Climate Change Agency), AENAOS THALASSA and the Laboratory of Ichthyology, Dept. of Biology of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, as well as other speciallized speakers.

Shortly an invitation to participate with detailed topics and schedule will be released.
